UpReach offers unpaid internships for individuals enrolled in a degree program at a higher learning institute. Because of the professionalism and diversity of staff, UpReach is able to meet the needs of students with a wide range of interests and majors as well as fulfill coursework requirements. PROGRAM:

MOUNTED:

Mounted program intern will gain a wide range of experience in program support, volunteer management, disabilities awareness, general horse care, therapeutic riding/driving lesson planning, as well as providing direct support to individuals with disabilities. As a program intern, you will have the opportunity to be involved in multiple areas to experience the daily functions of a nonprofit organization. All mounted program interns must complete a volunteer training session as well as Taking the Lead training. Prior horse experience is not required.

UNMOUNTED:

Unmounted program interns will gain a wide range of experience in program support. As an unmounted program intern, you will have the opportunity to be involved in multiple areas to experience the daily functions of a nonprofit organization. There will be a focus on Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) and psychoeducational programs.  This is primarily an administrative position with limited interaction with horses and participants. All unmounted program interns must complete a volunteer training session as well as Taking the Lead training. Prior horse experience is not required.

BARN

STABLE MANAGEMENT

Stable management interns gain a wide range of experience in horse handling, daily horse care, first aid, and herd management. As a stable management intern, you have the opportunity to be involved in multiple areas to experience the daily functions of an equine facility. All stable management interns must complete a volunteer training session as well as Taking the Lead training. Prior horse experience is required.

DEVELOPMENT

DEVELOPMENT/EVENT PLANNING

The Development Intern works closely with the Development Director, Executive Director, and the Fundraising Committee to help grow and expand the fundraising efforts of UpReach. This internship offers an introduction and experience in overall fund development strategy, the donor cycle and donor communication, donor acknowledgement and stewardship, various mediums of fundraising (direct mail, email, monthly giving, event sponsorship, in-kind donations,and event planning and logistics, as well as other administrative duties that are essential to successful nonprofit fundraising. You will be asked to attend and complete volunteer training and be scheduled in therapeutic riding and/or driving lessons so you can better understand programming and the impact it has on UpReach participants.

MARKETING:

SOCIAL MEDIA

We're looking for a plugged in, social media savvy, individual who wants to work closely with the Development Director to enhance UpReach's blogging, email marketing, and social media strategies through various platforms. This internship offers hands-on experience in creating and executing an overall social media and digital marketing strategy. You will be asked to attend and complete volunteer training and be scheduled in therapeutic riding and driving lessons and/or hippotherapy sessions so you can begin to capture stories and witness firsthand the magic that happens out in the barn. Depending on your experience, you will also have the opportunity to photograph horses, lessons, and volunteers, as well as develop and edit videos, and identify story ideas for development, marketing, and public relations purposes.
