UpReach Assistant Program Director, Lauren Kochakian, was selected as the PATH Intl. Region 1 'Credentialed Professional of the Year' for her dedication and commitment to the equine-assisted activities and therapies field. Lauren is one of 11 finalists for the overall PATH Intl. Professional of the Year, announced in November at the National Conference.
PATH Intl. Credentialed Professional of the Year is awarded to a PATH Intl. instructor or equine specialist who demonstrates excellence in areas of leadership, teaching, and service. Lauren is highly regarded by her co-workers, students, and volunteers as possessing all such qualities.
One writes, “Her teaching skills are apparent in both riding and driving lessons and she has an incredible way of meeting participants where he or she is on any given day. She pushes all to achieve the highest level of independence, while always maintaining the safety for volunteers, horses, and participants."
Lauren graduated from Colby Sawyer College in 2005 with a BS degree in Child Development and was hired at UpReach upon graduation. She is a former president of the NH Association of Volunteer Administrators (NHAVA) and received the 2014 Governors Award for Outstanding Volunteer Management. She also was the 2011 recipient prestigious Judith Lonergan Volunteer Administrator Award. Kochakian is a Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH Intl.) registered therapeutic riding instructor and a level one therapeutic driving instructor.
